Meet Dr. David Isaacs, MD

Dr. David Isaacs is a Dual-Fellowship trained Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon who treats aesthetic and functional conditions of the face and eyelids. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Isaacs has always wanted to be a physician and surgeon. He fondly remembers being fascinated by the anatomy of the heart in his elementary school science lab.
Dr. Isaacs graduated with Honors from the University of California Los Angeles and the Chicago Medical School. Dr. Isaacs completed his surgical and sub-specialty surgical training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and New York Medical College, where he trained in General Surgery and Ophthalmology. Dr. Isaacs also served as Chief Resident while at New York Med. These years of training provided Dr. Isaacs with a strong breadth of surgical knowledge that then progressed to sub-specialty surgical training. He had the privilege to gain a vast amount of clinical and surgical experience during his training, giving him a strong foundation in microsurgery. He appreciates the importance of details and the difference millimeters can make in a patient’s outcome.
Dr. Isaacs continued his formal sub-specialty surgical training through an extremely competitive and sought after fellowship in Orbital and Oculo-Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA. His training also included working with Mohs surgeons and performing Mohs Reconstructive surgery. This is one of the most competitive fellowships and draws applicants both nationally and internationally. Dr. Isaacs had the privilege to learn from and train side-by-side with the most respected surgeons in our nation
Dr. Isaacs then continued his training with a second fellowship in Facial Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Surgery. This fellowship augmented all of his prior experience, and one of his focuses during this fellowship was in revision surgery and aesthetic reconstruction.
Dr. Isaacs is one of the few surgeons in the country to have completed both a UCLA ASOPRS fellowship and a 2nd Facial Plastics fellowship. He also specializes in revision rhinoplasty, facelift, and eyelid surgery.
Dr. Isaacs also has a busy academic practice as Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University. He has both clinical and teaching duties, seeing patients and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. Dr. Isaacs also has a faculty appointment in the Department of Dermatology and particularly enjoys Mohs reconstruction cases. He also works alongside specialists in a multi-disciplinary team approach in an effort to help find patients with difficult autoimmune diseases therapeutics such as biologics and novel surgical procedures that can give them relief and help save or even regain function of muscle, skin, and vision.
Dr. Isaacs has a busy cosmetics practice that only focuses on the nose, eyelids, face, and neck. His philosophy is to achieve the best results in the safest manner. He takes a conservative approach and will discuss the various options to reach one’s goals. He believes that a natural appearance is the goal of every procedure.
Dr. Isaacs finds fulfillment and satisfaction helping patients with difficult medical problems. Conditions include cancer, inflammatory diseases, vascular disorders, trauma, and congenital or acquired disorders and diseases. Dr. Isaacs performs advanced surgery and his clinical interests include minimally-invasive approaches to orbital and skull-base tumors, facial reconstruction, and orbital decompression.
Dr. Isaacs is currently active in teaching residents and fellows. He holds a Dual-Faculty Appointment as Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University Health, where patients can schedule clinic appointments and surgery. He also serves as a Clinical Staff Attending at UCLA.
Dr. Isaacs serves as both a Director and Instructor for Academy courses that are held at the Annual Meeting as well as university based teaching courses. These are both lecture and hands-on training courses, teaching advanced surgical techniques to other surgeons from around the nation and internationally. These include Face/Neck Lifts, Blepharoplasty, Rhinoplasty, Orbital Decompression, and Fat Grafting. Dr. Isaacs is also an avid author and speaker. He has both reviewed and written medical literature, research articles, and book chapters. He has also been invited to speak at numerous national and international academic meetings.
Dr. Isaacs has always also learned from and enjoyed extra-curricular and team activities. He played football in high school and was a Rower on the UCLA Men’s Crew Team. Dr. Isaacs also finds that his love for plastic surgery mirror is love for art and music, which also play significant roles in his life. Dr. Isaacs is a student of piano since childhood, hás developed his own compositions, and hás been asked to perform on televised broadcast.
Academic excellence, teaching, and helping others have always been priorities for Dr. Isaacs. Dr. Isaacs received a Presidential Award and a letter from the White House for Educational Excellence and academics. Dr. Isaacs was an Instructor for The Princeton Review, a Top ranked test preparation and college admission services company, during his undergraduate years before attending medical school. He taught courses to his fellow pré-medical students, preparing them for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). He felt that getting into medical school was a difficult endeavor and helping his fellow students gave him fulfillment. Dr. Isaacs was a Workshop Leader for the UCLA Department of Education. He held workshops for pre-medical undergraduate students, guiding them on getting into medical school. HE was recognized by the UCLA Vice Provost of Honors and Undergraduate Programs for Superior Dedication in support of student academic success.
