If you have recently been diagnosed with a skin cancer, it can be devastating news. Please know that there are many patients like you, and we have helped many patients through their experience.
You may feel that you are too young to have a skin cancer, and this is all too common. Many patients in their 30s and even 20s are referred with a diagnosis or suspicion of skin cancer.
Mohs surgery is a surgical technique performed as an outpatient under local anesthetic to treat skin cancer. Tissue is removed in thin layers and examined under a microsope. This process is performed, layer-by-layer, until skin without any cancer is seen under the microsope.
Mohs surgery is an improvement to standard excisions for select cases, as it has been found to spare healthy tissue and has a low recurrence rate.
Please make an appointment to see us as soon as possible. Typically, we arrange for you to see one of our preferred Mohs surgeons for evaluation and excision. Once the entire cancer has been removed, Dr. Isaacs will perform the Mohs reconstruction usually on the same day.
